In recent decades, degradation of the Hesaraghatta Lake catchment has intensified. Additionally, rainfall exhibits significant variability each year. The period of 1981-1990, marked by continuous low rainfall years, was particularly challenging. In 2022, record rainfall and floods occurred, while 2023 faced drought conditions. These variable rainfall patterns underscore the importance of comprehensively understanding rainfall to effectively manage existing surface and subsurface storage.

IMD provides high spatial resolution (0.25X0.25 degree) daily gridded rainfall data covering India from 1901 to 2022 for the Hesaraghatta Catchment. This dataset is utilized for comprehensive rainfall analysis.
